Alterations
At Wilderness Bride, we want every bride to feel confident, comfortable, and radiant in her dress. To achieve the perfect fit, we strongly recommend professional alterations once your gown has been made.
Please Note: Alterations Are Not Included
Alterations are not included in the price of any bespoke, made-to-order, or ready-to-wear dresses. This is because every body is unique, and even with custom measurements, minor adjustments are often needed to ensure a flawless fit.
We believe that alterations are a natural part of the bridal journey—and key to making your dress truly yours.
Why Are Alterations Important?
Even a custom-made gown may need adjustments to match posture, proportions, or undergarments.
Small changes, such as hemming, strap adjustment, or taking in at the waist, make a big difference in the final look and comfort.
The right fit enhances confidence, movement, and how the dress photographs on your special day.
Estimated Costs
The cost of alterations can vary depending on the complexity and the work required. Prices may include:
Hemming: from £50+
Bust/waist/hip adjustments: from £40+
Strap or sleeve alterations: from £30+
Adding bust cups, linings, or structure: priced individually
These are guide prices only. A final quote will be provided by your chosen seamstress.
What We Recommend
We advise working with a bridal alterations specialist who understands the structure and delicacy of wedding gowns. If you're local to us, we’re happy to recommend trusted professionals.
Be sure to schedule fittings at least 6–8 weeks before your wedding to allow time for multiple rounds of adjustments if needed.
Final Fit is Key
Whether you're choosing a custom-made or off-the-rack gown, alterations are an essential step in achieving your dream look. We design your dress with enough seam allowance and structure to allow for a professional tailor to make these adjustments with ease.
